Know the Signs of Stroke: Act Fast

  • Face – Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
  • Arms – Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
  • Speech – Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred?
  • Time – If you observe any of these signs, call help immediately.

About the Stroke Program

Overview

Objective is to provide access to stroke care, including lifesaving neuro-interventional procedures like stents and coiling for brain aneurysms and stroke.

Primary Stroke Center Comprehensive Stroke Center
·         Take care of most cases of ischemic – blood vessel blockage – types of stroke

·         Access to neurosurgery

·         Sends complex patients to a Comprehensive Stroke Center

 

·         Cares for all types of stroke patients, including haemorrhagic – or bleeding strokes, such as those caused by brain aneurysms

·         Access to minimally invasive endovascular neuro-interventional procedures to treat stroke

·         Dedicated neuroscience intensive care unit of stroke patients

·         On-site neurological availability with the ability to perform complex procedures

·         Receives patients from the Primary Stroke Centers

System has a dedicated team of endovascular neurosurgeons and neuro-interventional radiologists specializing in the treatment of stroke. They include:

  • Neuro-interventional radiologist
  • Endovascular neurosurgeon

Primary Technology

  • Siemens Artis Q biplane for interventional imaging
  • Recommend 128-slice CT scanner, which quickly scans the whole body and provides sharp 3D images of any organ.
  • Telemedicine to ensure rapid assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of stroke patients when a neurologist is not immediately available in the Emergency Department.
