Buurtzorg India is starting

Buurtzorg Nederland is working with the Indian institution Edugreen to spread the concept of self-management throughout India. Director Jos de Blok was in India for the signing of the contract for Buurtzorg India.

buurtzorg and Edugreen, an Indian organization that specializes in the selection, recruitment and training of nurses did a pilot in 2017. Two teams of nurses were active in Calcutta, the capital of the province of Bengal. They have experimented with self-management according to the concept of Buurtzorg.

Neighborhood care franchise

That went so well that they intensify cooperation. The parties have signed a contract for a Buurtzorg franchise, just as Buurtzorg has already done in other countries. Jos de Blok was at the launch of Buurtzorg India in Calcutta on January 17. “The Ministers of Finance and Health were present on behalf of the province of Bengal. The Dutch ambassador has mediated, “says De Blok from India. “Now we go to the neighborhoods in other cities.”

After Bengal, Buurtzorg India wants to become active throughout India. Buurtzorg already has franchises in China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Sweden and America. In 2015 De Blok participated in a trade mission to Asia, with the King and former State Secretary Martin van Rijn of VWS. De Blok emphasizes that the foreign activities are not about profit and extra turnover. Buurtzorg does that to help other countries in providing better care at lower costs, according to the concept of Buurtzorg’s self-management.

On his journey, De Blok is accompanied by, among others, the Dutch scientist Sharda Nandram, who works at Nyenrode Business University. Among other things, she wrote the book Organizational Innovation by Integrating Simplification, Learning from Neighborhood Care, published by Printer Springer.

De Blok heeft op zijn reis gezelschap van onder andere de Nederlandse wetenschapper Sharda Nandram, werkzaam bij Nyenrode Business Universiteit. Zij schreef onder meer het boek Organizational Innovation by Integrating Simplification, Learning from Buurtzorg, verschenen bij Uitgeverij Springer.
